The Painful Cost Of Pleasure And Why You Need To ACT NOW To Prevent It!

A quick Google search tells me that the average UK hourly wage for full-time employees was £17.48 in 2023.

I can’t image that it has increased much in the last year. Let’s say for arguments sake that the average Brit now needs to work one full hour to earn £18.

And that is without taking pension, N.I. contributions, and income tax into consideration.

Why am I telling you this?

Well, at the weekend, Andi, one of our team, called at a small eatery in Retford (he is now back from Portugal) and ordered two coffees and two cakes costing him £15.75.

It took less than 30 minutes to place the order, enjoy the food and drink, and leave.

The actually eating and drinking part was probably no more than 15 minutes.

When you stop and think about it, it doesn’t take much for you to spend the money you earn.

What takes an hour of working to earn can be spent in a matter of minutes.

With one thing and another, Andi had spent a full days wage on food and drink over the weekend… possibly more.

It really doesn’t take a lot to spend the money you earn.

Sadly, for most people there is a kind of Pleasure and Pain trade off.

Pleasure costs more than they earn per hour… but the Pain of earning money lasts longer.

For example: it can take an hour to earn the price of a meal, but it can take 20 minutes to eat that meal.

Tickets to see your favourite band can cost several hours of working (or a whole week’s wage if you are going to see the Oasis reunion!), yet the band will probably only perform for 45 minutes.

Pleasure comes with a financial cost which is really measured in time.

For every coffee or beer you enjoy at a café or bar costs you time at work.

Every meal you enjoy at a restaurant also costs you time at work.

The more you spend, the more you need to work!

There is an hourly rate for everything you buy… and very few people realise it.

When you look at things this way, it can become a little depressing.

The idea that pleasure costs you a lot of time can make it less pleasurable.

It is at this point that you face a fork in the road of your future…

You can either carry on as you were, maybe cutting back a bit so that you are not working so hard just to pay for fleeting pleasures…

Or you can decide to look for a way to generate extra money that will pay for those treats and more.

Ideally, this second income wants to be one that is mostly passive because you don’t want to swap one job for another.

You should be reducing the amount of work you do, not increasing it!

The idea of a second income should be to take away the stress and strains of everyday spending giving you more breathing space… and a more pleasurable life.

I’ve said it plenty of times over the last few years, and I’ll keep saying it because people really need to understand this…

We currently live in the greatest period ever in all of human history to be able to make money from home thanks to the development of the internet and digital products.

I can only see it getting better.

The digital revolution allows us to create something once and sell it many times.

You can create a digital product and sell it hundreds of times… thousands of times… and possibly tens of thousands of times.

And it doesn’t have to cost you the Earth to create digital products, either.

A simple PDF can be created by using the free-to-use software, Google Docs. Take a look at the video here:

PS. Imagine having a dozen or more digital products floating around online, waiting for people to buy them and click on any affiliate links embedded within.

And imagine that those digital products promoted products and services which paid you commissions of £500 or more per sale.

Does that sound good to you?
