A few years ago, I wrote about a method of making money online that used a specific offline marketing tool, I am going to revisit that idea today as I believe it to be one that has a lot of potential.
It does have a bit of a ‘shotgun marketing’ feel to it which some people call hope marketing because you put your marketing materials out in front of untargeted people and ‘hope’ that someone is interested…
But I still think that it is something that should be considered… and my reason for that is…
The cost of doing it and the potential profits that can come from doing it.
Basically, it’s cheap to do and the profits could be HUGE in comparison!
For example, take a look at the image below:
In the screenshot above, you can see that you can purchase thousands of colour flyers of various sizes for less than £100.
In the top left corner you can see that you can have 5,000 A5 flyers printed for £98.72 (£118.46 with VAT).
That price is for colour print on both sides of the flyer.
For £178.44 (£214.13 with VAT) you can have 10,000 flyers printed!

Obviously, there will be delivery costs on top of those prices, but still… they are remarkable prices when you consider the amount of flyers you get, and the potential profits there is to be had.
If you were to find a product on Clickbank, or JVZoo which paid you an affiliate commission of £250 or more and added the most important details on to a flyer, you would only need to make one sale to make your money back.
Make 10 sales and you have made yourself £2,500 minus the cost of the flyers.
Depending on the product, and what you put on the flyer, I imagine that you should easily make 10 sales or more.
Having 5,000 leaflets printed for a little under £120 is great, but they won’t make you any money if they are sitting in a box in your office, you need to distribute them.
There are laws which you must follow when it comes to distributing leaflets.
You occasionally see people sticking leaflets on car windscreens, and as much as this is a great way to have people see your leaflets, it is classed as ‘littering’ and you can be prosecuted for it.
Posting letters through people’s letter boxes in their homes is legal and you can hand them out to people on streets as long as you are not blocking the way or standing on private property.
This is something you could do yourself, or you could pay someone to do it for you.
If you know any teenagers in your immediate or extended family that needs some extra money this could be the perfect easy job for them.
The other option is to go and place leaflets at all of the public places and businesses that have pin boards for advertising local businesses, or allow you to leave a pile of leaflets on their counter.
I know of a guy who once left free copies of his books on the counters of coffee shops for people to take for free.
Inside of those books he also had a printed postcard which had a QR code that took people directly to his website as soon as it was scanned on a phone.
Imagine that for a minute… a person enjoying a drink in a coffee shop scans a QR code on a postcard or flyer and within a second or two is browsing through your website.
We are talking instantaneously accessing your website without having to type in any long web address.
A quick scan and people could be on your website checking out your products and services.
Now, that is powerful!
Imagine that you spent £120 to have 5,000 flyers printed that pointed people to an affiliate product that paid you $1,000 (£765 ATOW)… you would surely get a sale or two from that.
I’m in the opinion you would get more.
If you position your leaflets where they can be seen by more than one person and that they have a visible QR code or web address so that people can check out the product you are promoting there and then…
I image you could have a lot more than a handful of sales!
That’s depending on the product and what your flyer says, of course.
If your flyer was dull as dishwater and was promoting a ‘brass rubbing’ course that only your long-dead great-great-grandfather may have been interested in…
Then I doubt you will make a single sale.
I do suggest that you register a domain name that is short and sweet, set up a landing page that gives away a free product (report, long article, video, etc) in exchange for an email address and then in that free product, and the following emails, you promote the affiliate product.
That way you build an email list so that you can tell them about similar products and even keep pushing the original product to those who had yet to purchase it.
It can often help sales if you send people to a piece of relative information instead of directly to a sales page.
It helps to warm people up to the idea that they need the product you are promoting.
And when you send people directly to an affiliate sales page you lose them forever, as least when you send them to a land page and build an email list first – known as a bridge or segue page – you can contact them again.
Does this sound like something that you could do?
Kind regards
John Harrison
PS. Talking about sending people to long articles or reports, here’s one that I think you will find useful.
