Did you know there are people who pay to have popular books summarised?
There are websites and services where people will extract all of the important information from other people’s books and summarise them into shorter easy-to-read versions or audio files to listen to.
Not only is this an interesting business model, it also highlights something that I think is equally powerful…. people want to consume information without a lot of fluff and filler.
People who write books like to ‘fatten out’ their work by adding a fair amount of their own personal story, anecdotes, true stories and case studies.
It can make books more interesting… for some people.
For others, especially those who are busy and don’t have the time to sit and read books but need to consume a lot of new information, all of the fluff and filler simply robs them of a lot of time.
Time is a precious commodity, and some people want and need to protect it as much as possible.
They want the important information stripped away from the fluff and filler and presented to them in the simplest form possible.
They basically want to learn the new facts, ideas and theories fast.
They don’t care where or when the author discovered the idea, or how many years it took for them to get the confidence to ignore their family and act on the life-changing information.
They just want the life-changing information.
So, where am I going with this?

I am not suggesting that you take other people’s books and summarise them particularly, but I am suggesting that you can take other people’s information – as long as it is commonly known – and publish simplified short eBooks and PDF reports.
Your selling point is that what you publish is straightforward, easy-to-read and free from a lot of unnecessary fluff and filler.
This also means that you can write and publish the eBooks faster as there is less to write.
If you can condense a 100 page book into a 25 page PDF; that is going to save both you and the reader a lot of time.
If you can condense a 25 page eBook into a 5 page PDF, then the time you save the reader is worth the price they pay you.
You could even take a whole book and reduce it to a one or two page checklist or cheat sheet for people to follow.
The idea behind this is that you create simple digital products which you put online with a simple sales page and a payment button.
Once online, you have a product that people can buy which earns you money.
As soon as you have one product online, create another.
Or even better… create a membership business where people pay you a monthly fee to receive life-changing information in a simplified manner.
I am a big believer in getting things out to market as fast as possible so that you can see how well it does.
Getting products online fast means that people can buy them from you sooner.
Far too many people are slow at getting things online and that can mean missing out on a lot of potential sales.
I was reminded of this last week when one of my staff bought a load of music from a musician who now self-publishes his work and sells it on the Bandcamp platform.
He spends time in his studio working on a piece of music, as soon as it is finished, he uploads it to Bancamp who send out an email notification to those who follow that musician, those people then go check out the new tunes which result in sales.
It is a simple process of:
Create a product > Put it online > Tell people about it > Make sales!
That musician is making money weekly by simply publishing his new work as soon as it is complete. He doesn’t wait around. He gets it out to market as soon as possible.
He doesn’t spend a year creating loads of tracks which he then thins out to make an album which is finally released a few months later, he creates a piece of music, uploads it and allows people to decide whether they like it or want it or not.
When people go to check out his new music, they also go through his old stuff to see if there is something else they want to buy.
By focusing on creating shorter summarised content, you can get your content in front of people quicker.
A lot of people don’t realise how easy it can be to create sellable digital products or how fast you can have something online generating sales.
By the time I have finished writing this article, I could have a page or two of content that I could convert to a PDF and sell from the website.
I’m not saying that people will want to buy this actual article, but what I am saying is that the time it took to write it, I could have written something that people would be willing to buy.
It’s possible that you could write and upload one new product to your website each day.
By the end of the year you could have a large portfolio of products that people can buy.
Write something, get it online, put a ‘Buy Now’ button on a simple sales page and test it.
I’m not saying that you will make a stack of sales on day one, but you certainly won’t make any sales if don’t put anything online with a payment button.

PS…
EBooks are not hard to create and there are no limits to how many you can create (have created) and sell, especially if you create a lot of short easy-to-read eBooks.
The more eBooks you have listed on your website means you have a greater opportunity to earn more.
